| For the past two years the city of Cincinnati and interested parties have embarhed on creating a new Comprehensive urban Plan for Cincinnati. The Comprehensive Plan will inform current and future decision makers where we are now, where we want to go, how we intend to get there, and who will help us along the way. Cincinnati holds a prestigious position in the history of Planning in our nation. In 1925, Cincinnati was the first city in the United States to have a comprehensive plan approved by City Council. Since that time, the Plan has been updated twice – in 1948 and in 1980. The areas in which we will plan include Housing and Neighborhood Development, Economic Development and Business Retention, Transportation and Transit, Health, Environment and Open Space, Land Use, Historic Preservation, Urban Design, Utilities and Infrastructure, Institutions, Intergovernmental Cooperation, and Fiscal matters related to these issues over 40 years.
